Thunder and Lightning

boating, boat canvas cover, cmccanvasA thunderstorm is any storm that contains thunder and lightning. At any given moment, there are about 1,800 thunderstorms occurring on the earth; about 16 million per year. Thunderstorms are a significant natural hazard, with the capability of producing  hail, tornadoes, high winds, lightning  or at the least significant rainfall,  and sometimes all of these in a single storm. But lightning is probably the greatest hazard.

According to researchers experts, lightning strikes somewhere on the earth about a hundred times every second and they estimate that about 22 million lightning flashes strike the ground each year in the United States alone.

Most people are more worried about d tornados or hurricanes, and how many people do you know that will remain on the lake until the last possible moment  and then make a mad dash back to shore only when  wind, thunder and lightning starts?

After all, fishing is supposed to be excellent during a rainstorm, and getting a little wet is part of the game. They might be surprised to learn that according to the National Weather Service, lightning kills more people each year than tornados and hurricanes combined.  After all lightening is electricity, and we all know that water is a good conductor of electricity.

You can wait out a rainfall, but if the thunder starts lightning could follow. Head to shore, and once there don’t forget to protect you boat with quality Canvas Covering from CMC Canvas LLC to protect your boat.
